Drashi Lhamo’s Future
Drashi Lhamo is a worldly protector in the class of spirits known as mamo (in Tibetan) or rakshasi (in Sanskrit). These are considered worldly dakini or, in English for lack of vocabulary, a type of higher, powerful spirit. With some god-like powers they’re at a higher level of spiritual evolution than an ordinary hungry ghost (preta in Sanskrit). Like all beings in the six realms of Samsara, mamo are bound to transmigrate and reincarnate until they are able to attain liberation to the Purelands.
The Ultimate Goal Of Spiritual Practice
Unlike many mamo, Drashi Lhamo has taken refuge in Buddhism and made vows to her guru. Through protecting the teachings and aiding practitioners in need, she can accumulate the merits needed to get out of Samsara, just like the way human students of the Buddha seek to widely benefit sentient beings in order to gain freedom from karma.
This notion of non-human beings taking refuge isn’t something new. Actually Buddha’s very first students were the greatest of gods!
When Buddha reached enlightenment, he simply sat in meditative bliss for weeks and would have passed straight into nirvana without ever having taught were it not for Lord Brahma, the world creating god, and Lord Indra, the world governing god. These two foremost devas saw him radiating great light and splendour and came to enquire what the cause was. Buddha then taught the Four Noble Truths:
- The truth that the essential nature of life is suffering
- The truth that the root cause of suffering is desire
- The truth that by giving up desires, we can be free from suffering
The truth that there is a specific path one should follow (the Noble Eightfold Path) in order to give up desires and become lastingly free from suffering
Using their great divine powers, Lords Indra and Brahma looked deeply into this teaching and found it to be true. Realising that they too would one day die and transmigrate, they took refuge in Buddha. From this came his title, “the greatest teacher of men and devas to walk the earth“. Many other non-humans took refuge in Buddha including the Twenty-four protective deities who vowed to guard his teachings as well as the rulers of the Eight Legions of heavenly beings along with many of their followers.
Great Deities Are Also Dharma Students!
There are many deities who have forged relationships with His Holiness Living Buddha Lian Sheng, Grandmaster Sheng-yen Lu often over lifetimes.
Xu Kaifu is a dharma student from Lukang, Taiwan who has followed Grandmaster Lu for almost thirty years, diligently practicing his cultivation methods daily. Over time, he became able to communicate with the heavens and began serving as a spirit medium, something he does professionally in order to be able to assist people. His predictions gained fame in Taiwan due to their accuracy and efficacy in helping people overcome their sufferings, and he gives these by invoking Nezha (Nalakubera in Sanskrit, the third son of the Great Northern Heavenly King, Lord Vaisravana).
In 2024, brother Xu made the pilgrammage to Seattle to see his Guru. When Grandmaster Lu invoked Nezha to descend upon him, a special message was passed.
With the recent movies featuring him, like the 2019 Nezha and 2023 Creation of the Gods, Nezha’s fame has spread far and wide, yet behind the myths there really is a genius child god who genuinely is working to help others be free from suffering. His root guru is His Holiness Living Buddha Lian Sheng, Grandmaster Lu.
Another famous deity with a strong karmic affinity to Grandmaster is Mazu, the goddess who rules the South China Sea. Before she became divine, she was human, born of flesh and blood to a Fujian family. By cultivating spirituality and virtue throughout her life, she was able to ascend into the heavens and get promoted into a leadership role after her death. Grandmaster has spoken of his past life affinity with Mazu as well as his encounters with Mazu in this life.
Everyday, countless students around the world say that they experienced Grandmaster’s light bodies appearing to them. Sometimes this happens in dreams, sometimes in meditation or even as a pure vision. These dharma bodies appear in Asia, Africa, Europe, Australasia, the Americas, the Middle East and give numerous spiritual responses. They also visit the heavens and descend into the hells to carry out the mission of salvation, as well as teach in innumerable Purelands. So it should be understood that Buddhas are capable of teaching in both the physical and non-physical realms, in many places simultaneously. This is one of the reasons they have many gods and other celestial beings as students and protectors as well as ghosts and demons.
Drashi Lhamo has reached the level of cultivation where she too can emanate numerous spirit bodies and appear in several places at once. She is able to contain both real poison and the poisons of the heart, to protect against evil spirits and harmful people and to bestow wealth and harmonious relationships. Drashi Lhamo renewed her vows in 2025 to Grandmaster, the reincarnation of her first Guru, Lama Jampa Monlam. She specifically asked to be able to go with him to his Pureland, the Maha Double Lotus Ponds in Sukhavati. Golden Mother accepted this request, so it will one day be so. However before that, she will need to accumulate merit and enact her vows diligently!
The True Buddha School Spring Grand Ceremony 2026
Drashi Lhamo appeared to His Holiness Living Buddha Lian Sheng in November 2025. She told him that there is a secret dharma practice that helps dharma students strike it rich quickly. Grandmaster agreed that this dharma was correct and should be widely disseminated.
To that end, it has been confirmed that this secret sudden wealth dharma practice of Drashi Lhamo would be taught for the first time ever at the True Buddha School Bing Wu Year 2026 Spring Grand Ceremony.
The Spring Grand Ceremony will take place on 21st and 22nd March 2026 and will feature three hugely significant events over those two days.
Day 1 will be at the Meydenbauer Centre, Bellevue, WA, USA, and will feature a grand calamity aversion and bardo deliverance blessing together with the debut transmission of Drashi Lhamo’s secret sudden wealth dharma
Day 2 will be at Rainbow Temple in North Bend, just outside of Seattle. There will be the official consecration of her temple there, forging a deep affinity between participants and Drashi Lhamo.
Afterwards, His Holiness Living Buddha Lian Sheng will preside over his first ever fire homa offering ceremony that honours Drashi Lhamo as the primary deity, giving participants and unequalled opportunity to gain great merits, deepen their affinity, put their wishes directly to her and supplicate her for wish fulfilment.
It is not yet public knowledge whether this opportunity will ever come again. Sometimes His Holiness Living Buddha Lian Sheng will transmit the same dharma on multiple occassions, but many times, he has done so just once. Only those with the affinity would receive it.
Drashi Lhamo Goes Global
Since Drashi Lhamo’s debut transmission in True Buddha School, she has rapidly started to spread around the world. There are over 300 True Buddha School temples and cultivation venues around the world. Many have begun to open shrines devoted to her and this trend is expected to continue for some time now that additional dharma practices from her are due for transmission. As I write, temples in USA, Canada, UK, France, Sweden, Norway, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, Australia, Hong Kong, Panama and Brazil have or are in the process of enshrining her.
It is noted that the Drashi Lhamo statues and artwork used at the debut transmission featured a Drashi who was more yellow than her traditional Tibetan image. His Holiness Living Buddha Lian Sheng stated that the one he transmitted is primarily yellow to signify the enrichment yogic intent. She also has some blue to indicate her capacity to pacify troublesome spirits, calamities and poisons. However, both the traditional Drashi Lhamo, with her standing pose and black face, or the new version can be used – both are in accordance with correct dharma.
Further he noted that because she is in spirit, her form isn’t fixed like a human. When she appears to him, she has done so as a glamourous middle aged woman, as an enchanting youthful lady as well as in her intimidating wrathful look which she adopts in order to shows her great power to subdue and terrify evil forces. Consequently many amulets show a beautiful maiden peeking out from behind a terrifying mask. All are in accordance with her dharma.
